Where has this year gone?

So here I was thinking I was going to blog more often and update and post a lot about the progress of the new house. And that has not happened and we will be moving within a week or so to the new place! Yikes! Anyways Construction started July 10th and there are only a few minor things left on the list before final inspection. (Hopefully Monday or Tuesday) So very exciting!

Layna is almost 2 1/2. A ball of energy, very imaginative, lovable, and silly. With a dash or two year old style tantrums and sleep refusal! :) She loves to go in the new house and run herself silly in all that space that we are definetly not used to! She LOVES to read, which I love as well, we have quiote the collection of books and plan a reading corner in the new house. I wouldn't say we are completely potty trained but we are darn close and that is huge to us!

Ellanor is 7 months. She is sweet, snuggly, SQUIRMY, and precious! She still has a cowlick in one of her eyebrows, and the poor thing has her mom's cowlick that fades into her dad's swirl! Yikes, what will we do with that hair?!?!? She is army crawling/scooting on her belly. She just started rocking on her hands and knees. Can sit up and actually lays on her side and can push herself up to sitting with one arm. She is always moving!

These are Ellanor's Newborn pictures. She is 2 months old today. Cant believe its been 6 months since I blogged. Guess time flies when you are busy. Baby is doing great and Layna loves to help me with her..sometimes a little too much :)

Thought I'd include a few new pics in this post. We tried to take our own family picture but Jake didn't like the background so we did another one. And Layna is getting very excited about the new baby. She is going to be a wonderful big sister!

We have an 18 month old!

I can't believe my baby girl is 1 1/2! It literally seems as though I had her yesterday but also that the baby stage was so long ago. I always say it seems like when she turned 1 someone exchanged my baby for a toddler.
So here's to Layna Grace Feakin who brings me joy and laughter every single day. (as I'm tearing up..such a proud mama) and as I tell you every night at bed time: I love you ALL the way to the moon and back!

Her favorite foods are blueberries, apples, any kind of crackers, and cheese
She likes to scribble on paper, books, her hands, her arms, the table...
She likes to hold her sippy cup to my belly and say num num num (giving baby a drink)
She loves to play in the dog food bowl, put her baby doll in it head first and say num num num!
She likes to walk and run anywhere
She likes to take baths and play in the water

Test run Santa

We went to Wal-Mart the other day to get christmas decorations. We heard there was a santa in the store and you could get a free 5x7 picture with him. We decided to go check it out and practice for the real trip to the mall. He was kind of hidden and popped out when we got close and asked if we wanted a picture. I said sure and went to get Layna out of the cart. As soon as I got her out she cuddled up to me with her head on my shoulder. I tried to put her on his lap and that was not happening with the death grip she had on me. So I sat next to Santa and Layna tucked her face into my armpit, clearly trying to hide from him. Jake was calling her name trying to get her to look at the camera and when she did she was crying..poor girl. So I called it quits. The lady asked if we wanted a pic of her crying and we said no. Now I wish I would have gotten it. It was priceless and for about 10 minutes after we walked away Layna stayed curled up and hiding her face in my neck. It was so sad that she wsa that scared but I secretly loved the cuddle time since she usually isn't much of a cuddler!

We'll see how the real trip goes!

Funny Layna Story

So Layna will one day kill me but I have to record her funny moments somewhere so I will not forget them.
We have 2 new goats we got last week, they're both pregnant, due in January. Layna loves them and was petting one. Being just like her mother she is clumsy and managed to stumble backwards into the goats water. Soaking herself from shoulders to boots.
I took her inside and stripped her wet clothes off. I went to put the clothes in the washing machine and when I came back to her she had put her rubber boots back on. So she was naked with only her boots. So cute. Of course I run and get my camera and snap a few pics of her cute hiney! I go put my camera back so she doesn't mess with it and return to where she is to find 2 turds on the ground! What a lady she is!

A new camera for Mama!!

I have been eyeing Nikon cameras for quite a while now (3 years!) I have a very nice small camera that takes very good pictures, just not the best. So I figured what better way to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby #2 than to get a great camera to take pics of the kiddos with. I got a Nikon D3100. And IT-IS-AWESOME! Can record video as well as take very good pictures and with a little one I really love to be able to snap snap snap multiple pics at once because they are always moving and the next face is always cuter than the last you dont have to wait for your camera to snap another! ANyhoo enough of me droning about how much I love it here are some pics of our outdoor photo shoot we did today!
